Sewing a Perfect Hem March 20, 2013

I’m a tatter. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned that before. Not a tater, not a tattoo-er (I like many of the designs, but I’ll put them on clothing, thank you) – don’t get them mixed up. I’m a tatter.

A tatter makes tatting, which is a lace, and one of the billions of things one can make with tatting is handkerchief edgings. I’ve made a few in the 20 years I’ve been tatting, and so I’ve made a few handkerchiefs to put them on. Note that I said I’m a tatter. I didn’t say I was a sewer – i.e. my hankies left much to be desired.

So, when I found this awesome tutorial on pinterest on how to make a perfect baby hem (that’s a super-narrow hem) I was thrilled to pieces! A perfect, tiny, easy hem! And with my tatting class learning how to attach edgings soon, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
